My teaching philosophy is based on the education I was given during my Gymnasium-time; the old school “humanistische Bildungsideal”. A holistic education that combines humanities, arts and sciences.
Education as a foundation
An educated individual to me is somebody that can follow or at least can get back into various academic, political and even philosophical discussions or essays, because he/she has built a solid foundation in all kinds of subjects and topics. Much of this knowledge may have been since forgotten, but the very core of these areas of expertise, the way of thinking and the very basic facts will still be around and enable such individuals to stay lifelong learners because they have the basic tool kit to get back into what they have since forgotten.
